About The course – details
The Master of Science specialization in cybersecurity is a graduate program within the Department of Computer Science that prepares students to find employment in this burgeoning field.
It includes cryptographic methods, data and information security, fault-tolerant computing, software safety, network security, privacy and anonymity, and system security.
The BU Centre for Reliable Information Systems and Cyber Security will work collaboratively with students in the program (RISCS).
Students can take a deeper look at cybersecurity than in CS security classes, covering topics like secure software, languages, and architectures.
Learners can check courses from other RISKS-affiliated programs at BU, such as Metropolitan College (MET), the College of Engineering’s ECE department, and the School of Management (SMG).
These courses cover both lower-level issues like secure hardware design and higher-level issues like digital forensics and security management and hacking knowledge.

Eligibility – What are the requirements of the course
- The MS Department of cyber-safety has the exact requirements for courses (8 graduate courses and 32 credits) and core computer science requirements.
- Students who are pusuing Master’s degree, they must complete at least five courses from the designated core courses which are listed in the department graduate bulletin.
- The number of B– grades received for the five core courses must not be greater than the number of B+ or higher grades received.
- The remaining three non-core (elective) courses are chosen in consultation with and approved by the student’s faculty advisor. For graduate credit, no grade lower than B– may be used.
- The Master’s courses are split into four breadth fields: Theory, Systems, Software, and Applications. There must be at least one course on each topic.
- For this master’s degree, there is no foreign language requirement.
