M.S. in Cybersecurity & Privacy From New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)-2023

The field of computer science is booming constantly and is not showing any signs of deterioration. One might consider upscaling their skill set by gaining knowledge in the field of cybersecurity.

It would open gateways for future research works and jobs for competent individuals in this field.

Having cybersecurity training will allow an individual to protect the employer’s computers and systems from cyberattacks.

There is a shortage of cybersecurity professionals when compared to the increasing cases of sophisticated cyberattacks.

More professionals are required who can manage, analyze and improve threat detection techniques to counter such attacks.

Such professionals are also skilled in artificial intelligence and machine learning which helps in detecting any anomaly in high-volume data streams.

Why Choose New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)

The Master’s Program in Cybersecurity and Privacy at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) will give graduates insight and technical expertise in the field along with ethical aspects of security and privacy.

They would also gain in-depth knowledge of security mechanisms and devise and implement security solutions for new systems.

This would require performing a security design review and ensuring that the software and the system infrastructure are designed to counter the security threats and breaches.

Degree Requirements:

→ 36 credits are required for the course.

→ All Cybersecurity Core Courses are required.

→ 6 credits are required from the PTC (Professional and Technical Communication) List.

→ 6 credits from Management List are required.

→ 6 credits from Cybersecurity Elective List are required.

→ An elective course can be replaced by an MS Project Course.

If a student wishes to work on an MS project then it must be related to Cybersecurity and team-oriented collaborative work is encouraged in such cases.

Each MS-CSP Cyber Defense Option Student who is not in a job is required to participate in an internship.

Conclusion

With advanced and sophisticated mechanisms of cyberattacks, computer systems and networks are badly affected. Minimizing recovery time after a data breach and developing ways to counter such attacks require professional support.

Getting a degree in the field of cybersecurity and privacy will help students gain a professional background and help them to design solutions to effectively protect computer systems and networks from hackers
